I entertain my visitors with ‘wee’ – Edem

Ghanaian rapper/hiplife artist, Denning Edem Hotor better known in showbiz circles as Edem has revealed that he keeps banned narcotic substance Marijuana known in local parlance as ‘wee’ in his house.

According to the award winning musician who claims he’s never smoked ‘wee’ before, being a very hospitable person, he keeps the substance in his home to entertain his visitors to make them feel at home.

Edem may not be the only Ghanaian musician who has something to do with marijuana as Popular dancehall musician Samini who has publicly confessed to smoking marijuana or ‘wee’ wants the banned substance decriminalized since it has the potential to boost the country’s economy.



Speaking to Gatuso on Aben Wo Ha on Kasapa FM, Edem in an answer to a question whether he smokes Marijuana, explained that he only keeps a limited quantity at a time for his guests.

“I no dey smoke wee but wee dey my house… I just no dey sell am. It just be small quantity wey boys come them for just fire…Policeman dey fire, Soldier dey fire, let’s not be hypocritical” [Sic]

As at June 2017, Ghana was ranked as the leading user of Marijuana in Africa and third in the world, according to latest United Nations (UN) reports on the use of the illegal drugs in the world.

The UN world report on drugs also indicated that about 22 percent of Ghanaians of school going age are engaged in drug abuse.
