A group calling itself Concerned Youth of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Brong Ahafo region has pleaded with the Steering Committee tasked to investigate Nana Obiri Boahen to forgive the embattled Deputy General Secretary.
The Steering Committee is set to investigate the NPP Deputy General Secretary about claims that the presidency donated about GH?50 billion towards the party’s 2017 National Annual Delegates Conference held in Cape Coast in the Central Region, a claim the party has denied.
Mr. Boahen in the said audio is heard complaining bitterly about some happenings in the NPP, lamenting that he has been sidelined in the sharing of the pary’s cake.
He has since been slammed by the leadership of the NPP who have rubbished his claims and started an investigation into same.
But even before the NPP Steering Committee concludes its probe, the youth group is apologizing on Obiri-Boahen’s behalf.
Chairman of the Brong Ahafo Youth Wing of the NPP, Forkuo Albert said though Obiri Boahen has admitted to making the comments, he has demonstrated enough remorse and therefore plead with the Steering Committee to temper justice with mercy.
He believes that the confusion is an attempt by some elements within the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to get the Secretary kicked out of the NPP.
“We know the NDC fear Obiri Boahen for his consistent defense of the NPP and this may be a bait to get him off”, he said on Accra-based Okay FM.
