The Member of Parliament (MP) for Bawku Central, Mr Mahama Ayariga has described Nii Lante Vanderpuye’s pronouncement on freeing Abuga Pele when the National Democratic Congress (NDC) comes back to power as “absolute rubbish”.
Speaking during Joy FM’s news analysis programme, Newsfile on Saturday, Mr Ayariga said he did not personally hear his colleague MP, but when the tape was forwarded to him, he questioned, “how can Nii Lante say that?”
“So I forwarded it to Nii Lante and when I met him in the Chamber of Parliament, I said, Nii, did you say the things they said you said,” and he [Nii] responded, “oh you know” and “I [Ayariga] said, look, this is rubbish. You can’t say a thing like that.”
According to Mr Ayariga, clearly it was “rubbish” and that was why the party and its founder have denounced the pronouncement but on the whole issue of Assibit and Abuga Pele, the MP said the problems with GYEEDA came about because the National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP) was initiated and implemented without a legal framework.
Contributing, the Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako said, unless Nii Lante apologises on that matter, he was going to suffer a “credibility” problem for a very long time.
