CPP biometric card launched

CPP biometric card launched

The Convention People’s Party (CPP) on Friday, 16 March 2018, launched a biometric membership card to ensure all its members are captured in the party’s data base.

According to the party, the moves form part of the reorganisation process aimed at recapturing power.

Speaking at the launch, Chairman of the party, Prof Edmund Delle urged all party members to support the process.

He said: “Strictly speaking, we were the first party to bring the idea that we should reregister all members of the Convention People’s Party, so we prepared the cards and now, we know we’re in the digital stage and we are grateful to the UNDP who supported us and of course members of the central committee.

“The leadership had a meeting a couple of days ago and insisted that we should start immediately and we hope that all members of the CPP will support this exercise and go register and have their digital registration cards and this one will entitle you to vote in any election that is taking place in the CPP.”

He added that the card will ensure that “there will be no more fraud during elections because this is digital, your picture is there, your constituency number is there, the date you were registered is there and it also state the type of membership you decided to take.”

He noted that platinum members will be required to pay monthly dues GHS1000 to help support the party to make the CPP self-reliant.
