PAUL POGBA cannot be happy at Manchester United with Jose Mourinho alienating him from the first XI, according to Didier Deschamps.
Pogba, 25, is back with France this week after being called up for the friendlies against Colombia and Russia but has missed big games for Manchester United in recent weeks.
Pogba did not feature when Jose Mourinho’s side beat Liverpool in the Premier League, he came on as a late substitute in the Champions League defeat to Sevilla and was absent against Brighton in the FA Cup.
And the France manager thinks the former Juventus star and £89m United signing will be frustrated at his current situation.
“This is a situation that he must not appreciate because of everything he would have been able to offer,” Deschamps told L’Equipe. “There must be numerous reasons.
“He cannot be happy with what he is going through with his club.”
Pogba returned to United from Juventus for a then world record fee in 2016 and won the Europa League and League Cup last season.
But he has only made 27 appearances for the Manchester club so far this term, scoring the last of his three league goals for the campaign in November against Newcastle.
Pogba has only completed 90 minutes twice since the end of January and Deschamps admits he will talk to him and help him through it.
Deschamps added: “It’s not specific to Paul. It can happen elsewhere that a player is a bit down or is going through a particular situation with his club.
“That could be Paul now, or others at other times, and I will do as I always do and talk to that player to understand better, because I don’t have all the information.”
Pogba is understood to have concerns when played in a midfield two, despite having featured there for much of the season.
He also appears frustrated following the arrival of Alexis Sanchez with his normal avenue down the left now being filled by the former Arsenal man.
Sanchez is yet to really get going at United and the team have suffered since his arrival with Mourinho having to defend his tactics.
United were dumped out of the Champions League last week leaving the FA Cup the only trophy available with Manchester City running away with the title
And Craig Burley has even claimed Mourinho wants to sell Pogba – but may not be allowed to by the club after the huge investment in bringing him back.
“I kind of get the feeling that if Mourinho could punt him, he will,” Burley said.
“But it was a big investment and for that reason I’m going to say they’re going to fight tooth and nail to try and find ways in getting the best out of Paul Pogba, bringing other players in to supplement him and try and get him on board.
“I’m going to say stay but I’m real 50-50 with that one.”
