Antoine Griezmann: Diego Costa makes major transfer claim… and it will concern Man Utd

DIEGO COSTA has confidently predicted Antoine Griezmann will remain at Atletico Madrid amid intense transfer speculation.
Griezmann will be one of the most wanted attacking players in Europe football in the summer after another prolific campaign for the Spanish club.

The 27-year-old has scored 23 goals in 38 appearances and his season has been revitalised by the return of Diego Costa, who was eligible to play in January.

But with a release clause of around £90million comfortably within reach for a number of top clubs, Atletico face a battle convincing Griezmann to stay for another season.

Manchester United and Barcelona are known to be interested parties but Costa says he wants Griezmann to stay and believes the France international will.
“He knows that we want him, that he is a very important player. He is still with us and he has not told me he is going yet,” Costa said.

“I would be happy for him to stay, everyone has to look for the best for themselves but, in my opinion, the best for him is to stay.”

Costa added: “He called me every day to tell me to return to Atletico and now he’s not going to leave me.
In an interview with French outlet L’Equipe, Griezmann made clear he wanted his future sorted before this summer’s World Cup.

“I want to travel to Russia without this concern,” he told L’Equipe. “It’s not about knowing where I’ll play, but about having the peace of mind if I’m still in one place or another.

“It may be boring, but I have told my sister that, whether I stay or not, this will have to be resolved beforehand.

“What bothers me the most is that everyone asks me about this issue.”
