LIONEL MESSI has reportedly learned from Barcelona team-mates that Alvaro Odriozola will join Real Madrid in the summer.
Messi is currently away on international duty with Argentina but injury forced him to sit out of Friday’s 2-0 win over Italy.
However, he is in contention to feature against Spain tomorrow night, which will involve going up against a cluster of fellow Barcelona stars.
Lionel Messi is said to be in constant contact with his friends from the Nou Camp, including Andres Iniesta, Gerard Pique and Jordi Alba.
The latest reports from Spain suggest some of their messages have centred on a deal Real will complete this summer.
According to Don Balon, Iniesta and co. have learned while on international duty that Real Sociedad right-back Odriozola will move to the Bernabeu.
That information has been passed on to Messi, who is set to train with Argentina at Real’s Valdebebas base today.
Sociedad and Real have apparently held talks about Odriozola, with both sides confident an agreement will be made.
And Real are said to be willing to meet the £35m (€40m) release clause written into the 22-year-old’s contract.
Barcelona have also taken a look at Odriozola as they weigh up how to strengthen their squad this summer.
However, it appears Real are in pole position to sign the defender to compete with current first-choice Dani Carvajal.
