Anthony Joshua reveals what he really thinks of Joseph Parker ahead of Cardiff showdown

ANTHONY JOSHUA struggled to talk at length about the strengths of Joseph Parker and promised he had improved too much over the last 11 months for the Kiwi to handle him.
Joshua and Parker will clash on Saturday night in Cardiff with the WBA, IBF and WBO heavyweight world titles on the line as well as both fighters’ unbeaten records.

But they met for one final press conference in London today where Joshua, when asked to describe the strengths of his opponent, was hesitant to talk too much about the New Zealander.

“I could say the simple thing is he’s got two arms and so on! But in terms of his attributes, as everyone says he’s quick and he can take a punch,” Joshua said.

“But that’s what I’ve heard and I’m going to repeat what people have been saying.”
Joshua’s last fight saw him beat Carlos Takam at the Principality Stadium, a bout where many were critical of his lack of speed against an opponent who lasted until the 10th round.

The French-Cameroonian fighter is Joshua’s only mutual opponent with Parker, who won a unanimous decision against him in 2016.

But the Brit believes he has learned plenty from the victory over Takam – as well as the win over Wladimir Klitschko in May last year.

“Every fight has been a learning fight and every camp has been a learning camp,” Joshua added.
“In terms of what I learned from the Klitschko fight I learned I shouldn’t use training camp to get fit. I approach training camp in good condition.

“Carlos Takam is a good competitor. He was fit, he was game. He was someone who is a lot shorter. When it came to boxing Carlos Takam, I thought it’s fine even though he was shorter than me. I’ll meet him with uppercuts and left hooks.

“Parker will add something to my life journey. It will be over Sunday and I’ll move forward.”
