MOHAMED SALAH can get even better for Liverpool and is currently outperforming Fernando Torres’ achievements at Anfield.
That’s the verdict of former Anfield ace John Arne Riise, who’s surprised by just how well the Egyptian has done on Merseyside.
Salah joined Liverpool from Roma in a then club-record deal worth an initial £37m last June.
And he’s gone on to become a firm fans’ favourite, rattling in 35 goals in all competitions already.
Salah has drawn comparisons with former Liverpool stars Luis Suarez and Torres.
And Riise has claimed fans can expect to see the 25-year-old do even more under Jurgen Klopp.
“I haven’t seen many players do the same things he has done in the first season at a new club,” Riise said.
“He is doing things nobody expected him to do.
“He didn’t have a great time at Chelsea; he was good at Roma; but now he is doing things we have never seen before.
“Being a Liverpool fan, I want him to win every personal trophy.
“There are a few other players who have done well this year – Kevin de Bruyne has done well for [Manchester] City.
“I think it’s going to be tight between those two but, for me, Player of the Year is definitely Mo Salah.”
Salah’s recent four-goal haul against Watford meant he has bettered Torres’ best ever season for Liverpool.
And Riise added: “He’s not even a typical striker either – he’s on the right wing at times.
“What Torres did was unbelievable, that season he was really on fire.
“Now, Mo Salah is doing even better. It’s hard to imagine such a big achievement and the season isn’t even over.
“He can still do more. I don’t think even Jurgen Klopp expected him to do that.”
