Man Utd made Ibrahimovic, Griezmann and Morata transfer decisions because of one player

MANCHESTER UNITED reportedly chose to pursue deals – with varying success – for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Antoine Griezmann and Alvaro Morata because of Paul Pogba.
Manchester United star Pogba is under pressure to rediscover his best form ahead of the closing stages of the season.

The 25-year-old scored a cracker for France last night as they beat Russia 3-1 in a friendly ahead of the World Cup later this year.

Manchester United have so far failed to get the best out of Pogba, who cost the club a huge £89million when he arrived from Juventus nearly two years ago.

But the Manchester Evening News claim that is not for a lack of trying.

And that is because the Red Devils have tried to land Ibrahimovic, Griezmann and Morata for his sake.

Pogba remains United’s undisputed talisman.
For all of Romelu Lukaku’s goals, and Alexis Sanchez’s blockbuster January arrival, the France star is their No 1 man.

He is a popular figure on and off the field with Pogba also close to the likes of Lukaku, Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial in the dressing room.

And the MEN say United have chased deals always with the aim of coaxing the best out of their £89m midfield general.

Ibrahimovic, they claim, arrived to sweeten Mino Raiola.

Raiola represents Pogba and the signing of Ibrahimovic ultimately paved the way for the player’s signing.
United then tried to land both Griezmann and Morata last summer.

Both would have enabled Pogba to focus on the simple things in life rather than providing a creative spark.

Yet both men ultimately ended up out of their reach.

Griezmann ended up staying at Atletico Madrid but may join Barcelona at the end of the current campaign.

Morata, meanwhile, was sold to Chelsea after Real Madrid flatly refused to flog him to United.
