Man Utd news: Jose Mourinho settles on Michael Carrick and Marouane Fellaini replacements

MANCHESTER UNITED boss Jose Mourinho has reportedly settled on replacements for Michael Carrick and Marouane Fellaini.
Manchester United are set to lose both Carrick and Fellaini at the end of the current campaign.

Carrick has already announced he will retire, finally hanging up his boots after a glittering career.

Express Sport also understands Fellaini is set to turn his back on United to pursue a new challenge elsewhere.

There has been plenty of talk about who Manchester United want this summer with Real Madrid’s Toni Kroos and Barcelona’s Andre Gomes tipped to sign.

But the Manchester Evening News say the Red Devils are actually seriously interested in Napoli’s Jorginho and Shakhtar’s Fred.
They say that the duo are the leading candidates to fill Carrick and Fellaini’s respective boots.

Jorginho has blossomed as part of a Napoli side who have entertained many so far this season.

The Italy star is outstanding on the ball and his intelligence makes him an ideal Carrick replacement.

The MEN say Fred is also proving an attainable target.

Fred recently renewed his contract at Shakhtar but that was merely a way for the club to receive as high a transfer fee as possible.
Manchester City were linked with the Brazilian during the January transfer window.

But they ultimately shelved plans to sign him in favour of landing Aymeric Laporte from Athletic Bilbao.

United may yet need another midfield signing should Paul Pogba go.

The France star is a popular figure at the club but has recently found game time hard to come by.

And, if his relationship with Mourinho continues to worsen, a transfer away could be on the cards.
