Brong Ahafo NPP condemns attack on NDC MP

The Asunafo South branch of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has condemned an attack on Member of Parliament (MP) for Asunafo South Constituency, Eric Opoku.

Some unidentified thugs allegedly assaulted the National Democratic Congress (NDC) MP and vandalised his property, including vehicles, on Sunday, 1 April 2018.

The armed men also inflicted machete wounds on three other persons believed to be sympathisers of the NDC.

Commenting on the development in an interview with Class91.3FM on Monday, 2 April, the NPP’s Communications Director in the Asunafo South constituency, Nana Adusei Poku, charged the police to speed up investigations into the case and bring the perpetuators to book.

“We were shocked when we heard this issue. The fact of the matter is that we solidarise with our MP for Asunafo South even though we belong to the other side of the political divide. We don’t want these things to be happening in our constituency,” he said.

He indicated that they do not want “the peace currently being enjoyed in Asunafo South to be marred by some of these obnoxious acts and atrocities”.

Meanwhile, the police in the Brong Ahafo Region are on a manhunt for the hoodlums. The injured are also receiving treatment in hospital.
