Ghana’s fastest growing Hockey Media Group,iSports360, is set to launch the Hockey Academic Support Program (HASPro) on Saturday 7th April 2018 at the Theodosia Okoh Hockey Stadium.
The initiative which is expected to develop and promote Hockey in Ghana, develop the capacity of young sportsmen and women through education will host dignitaries, selected Universities in Ghana and potential applicants as well as the media.
As captured in the press statement issued by iSports360, the Group is poised to assist Universities to identify good talents with academic background in other to pursue their tertiary education.
The program will be launched between the hours of 8am and 10am as well as Universities session with the potential students from 12pm to 3pm.
Speaking to the CEO of iSports360, Mr. Dennis Ababio Jnr, he expressed that, the aim of the project is to give hope for the youth to pursue Sports and Academics at the tertiary level.
“A dawn of a new era is to be launched. We are optimistic in providing hope to the youth with sports as an essential tool” he said.
He mentioned that the project is meant to serve as a medium not only to advocate for athletes to further their education but to create an enabling environment for young Hockey players in Ghana.
“Come this weekend, the youth who have played the sport and have faced some challenges In furthering their education , will have smiles all over their face” Mr. Ababio Jnr mentioned.
“It’s a conscious effort to affect the society in which we leave in” he added.
Meanwhile, some Public Universities have taken their spot for this first edition, notably, University of Ghana (UG), Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), University of Education Winneba (UEW) and University of Professional Studies (UPSA).
Mr. Dennis Ababio Jnr, CEO of iSports360, plays for Exchequers Hockey Club (Bank of Ghana) and on loan at Legon Knights Hockey Club. He is a graduate of University of Ghana. A former Secretary General for the University of Ghana Students Sports Council.
