WEST BROM have axed Alan Pardew with six games of the season left to go.
Pardew was appointed as Tony Pulis’ successor in November but has failed to spark a revival in the relegation strugglers’ fortunes.
West Brom are 10 points from safety and look destined to drop out of the Premier League.
Former Baggies defender Darren Moore has been placed in charge “until further notice”.
A statement on the club’s website said: “West Bromwich Albion and Alan Pardew have agreed to mutually part company today following discussions between both parties.
“Assistant Head Coach John Carver will also be leaving.
“The Club would like to thank Alan and John for their efforts and wish them well in their future endeavours.
“First-team coach Darren Moore has been placed in charge of first team affairs until further notice.
“The Club will not be making any further comment at this time.”
Pardew was tasked with ensuring West Brom maintained their Premier League status when he was appointed last year.
He took over from Pulis with the team hovering just above the relegation zone.
However, the 56-year-old has masterminded just one win in 18 league games as they slumped to the bottom of the league.
West Brom have lost eight in a row and Pardew turned on some of his players after Saturday’s home defeat to Burnley.
“You learn that certain players can deal with the situation, others not,” he said. “We have another tough match next week, we have to be confident enough to stand up to the opposition and ask them questions.”
Pardew’s troubled reign was overshadowed by taxi-gate during the team’s warm-weather training camp in Barcelona in February.
Jonny Evans, Gareth Barry, Jake Livermore and Boaz Myhill were alleged to have stolen a taxi outside a fast-food restaurant.
West Brom owner Guochuan Lai has been restructuring the club behind the scenes in a last-gasp bid to secure the team’s Premier League status.
Lai sacked chairman John Williams and chief executive Martin Goodman, who were central to the decision to appoint Pardew, in February.
It was previously suggested the club’s dire finances would save Pardew from the chop.
Mark Jenkins, appointed as the new chief executive, admitted he was “shocked” by the state of the accounts.
“There is no more money for wages,” Jenkins revealed.
West Brom face fellow relegation battlers Swansea City on Saturday (3pm).
