Kennedy Agyapong dares military high command; ‘Try me’

In what appears to be a show of power, maverick politician and Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong is daring the military to ‘try him’.

Mr Agyapong who became incensed following response to claims he was awaiting slots for military recruitment, was not charitable with his choice of abusive adjectives rained on the top brass of the Ghana Armed Forces asking them to either get him arrested or kill him if they choose to.

Readers will recall a MYNEWSGH.com report a week ago, in which the controversial New Patriotic Party (NPP) lawmaker for Assin Central, Hon Kennedy Agyapong said he was keenly looking forward to getting special military protocol slots for “his people” otherwise “he will make noise”.

Counting the number of jobs he got under the various government programs, Mr Kennedy Agyapong said he was eyeing the upcoming military recruitment for slots… “Enye saa meye dede”, he had said in Twi on Oman FM, directly translated: ‘otherwise I will make noise.’, as we rightfully reported at the time.

But Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Ghana Armed Colonel Aggrey Quashie, in an interview with Kumasi-based Ultimate Fm, assured the general public that recruitment into the military will continue to be by merit.

“Enlistment of applicants into the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) is always based on merits not political influence or any other means, Public Relations Officer (PRO) GAF, Colonel Aggrey Quashie has said.

“People think that if I pay money to somebody I can get myself in there. If all your documentation is correct you stand an equal chance like any other person to be picked”, he said.

But an incensed Kennedy Agyapong on the same platform he first made the claims took on the Ghana Armed Forces saying” I am daring them to come and kill me… they should come and arrest me and see what will happen’, he dared.

“The military man who shot and killed Boakye Agyarko has been lying in bed with stroke for 12 years. “You should go and look at Agyei Boadi, what he became when he was dying… They used to tie human being behind a car and drag him on the streets of Kumasi”, he recounted.
