Video: Our attitude towards Abraham Attah not good – Oscar Provencal

Veteran actor Oscar Provencal has described as unfortunate, the attitude of Ghanaians towards young actor, Abraham Attah.

According to him, the ‘Beast of No Nation’ star should be celebrated for having attained such heights at such a young age.

Abraham Attah caught international attention when he made his debut acting alongside Idris Elba in the movie, ‘Beast of No Nation’ directed by Emmy Award-winning Cary Fukunaga.

Following the success of the movie, the young actor got the chance to relocate to the US to continue his education.

He was cast in some Hollywood movies, including ‘Spiderman; Homecoming’, as well as a lead character for a Nollywood international cinema project titled ‘Ade’s Journey’.

Some critics, however, argue that Abraham Attah was being given too much media attention when other young actors in the movie had acted equally well.

Others also thought his inability to express himself in the English language was a dent on his success.

Speaking in an interview with Naa Ashorkor on Showbiz A-Z on Joy FM, Oscar Provencal said, “when you hear of this young man in ‘Beast of No Nation’, I hope and pray that he will move to that stratosphere, and he will not be destructed.”

“Unfortunately the reception that he got from Ghanaians was not very helpful. It was unfortunate and I felt very bad about it.”

Affectionately called ‘Inspector Bediako’, Oscar Provencal stressed the need to support and celebrate industry persons putting the nation and continent on the map.
