Controversies after Daasebre Gyamenah’s death embarrassing – Family head

Head of late highlife musician, Daasebre Gyamenah’s family, Godfred Oti has described controversies that have succeeded the musician’s death as worrying.

The death of the musician has been saddled with endless family squabbles.

Initially, it was the dispute between the maternal and paternal family over ownership of his mortal remains which ended in court.

The latest on the bill are allegations by baby mama of the late musician, Amina Abadini that, she and her son have been rendered homeless after the elder brother of the late highlife artiste, one Kofi Agyapong, allegedly threw her belongings out of the room given her by the family.

Amina claims she and Daasebre’s son are stranded and currently perching with a friend.

“I saw my things outside and I asked who brought my things outside and they said it is Daasebre’s big brother. The room is mine, it is Daasebre himself who gave me this room because of [his] son”.

“He broke into my room,” she said.

Head of Daasebre Gyamena’s family, Godfred Oti confirms allocating the room to Amina and her son after the death of the musician.

Reacting to Amina’s eviction, Godfred Oti advised Amina to report to the Police, stressing Kofi had no right to dislodge her.

“She called and I told her to report the issue to the Police. She said he (Kofi) had rented the place to another. I told her to alert the police and return her belongings to the room because I haven’t evicted her,” he said.

He also mentioned the alleged offender, Kofi Agyapong to JoyNews’ MzGee as the same person who instigated the family dispute over possession of Daasebre’s body.

Godfred Oti also alleged that Kofi Agyapong threatened to kill him.

He said the stories that emerged after the demise of Daasebre have been embarrassing and heartbreaking.

“I am very very worried. It worries me. I am very embarrassed and it hurts me very much just one individual is dragging the name of his dead brother into disrepute. Look at how he and his maternal family distorted the funeral rites. Why will you want to disgrace your brother this way”? Godfred Oti quizzed.

He added that “It is really upsetting. I got really broken when I heard it. I haven’t been able to eat since the story broke. It’s sad and unfair that a celebrity like Daasebre should be mocked this way after his death publicly.”

“Daasebre owns a mansion in Koforidua, it’s a ten bedroom house. The Accra abode was inherited from his father,” Mr Oti concluded.

Daasebre Gyamenah passed away on Friday, July 29, 2916, while on admission at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH) in Accra.
