Panathinaikos Clear Debt To Ghana’s Michael Essien

Greek giants Panathinaikos will not face any points deduction after paying off debts owed to Ghana midfielder Michael Essien and two others.

Currently 10th on the 16-team table, Panathinaikos were on the verge of losing points which could have ultimately seen them being relegated having failed to settle debt owed to their three former players.

Essien together with Argentine winger Sebastian Leto and Spanish forward Toche were owed an unknown amount of money after rendering their services to the Club.

A sports judge however ordered the Club to pay the said arrears within three days or face points deduction.
The Green and whites however took immediate action to settle the sum unpaid.

Michael Essien joined Panathinaikos from AC Milan in 2015 and spent just a season with the Club before leaving to Indonesian side Persib.

The 33-year-old who is nearing retirement is still attached to Persib despite his exclusion from the squad.
