Man Utd boss Mourinho to offload THREE stars by sanctioning £157m Barcelona deal – report

JOSE MOURINHO is ready to break the bank – and lose his top players – in a bid to sign Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen, sensational reports in Spain claim.
Manchester United are set to splash the cash in the transfer window as they look to build a team capable of challenging Manchester City for the title next season.

However, Mourinho realises he is unlikely to keep hold of goalkeeper David de Gea with Real Madrid expected to renew their interest this summer.

With Keylor Navas out of favour in the Spanish capital, club president Florentino Perez is convinced he can finally persuade De Gea to fill his boots at the Bernabeu.

Don Balon claim Mourinho is accepting of the fact his No 1 could be on the move and is drawing up contingency plans as a result.

They say the Portuguese’s first choice is Barcelona shot-stopper Ter Stegen.
Mourinho is so determined to sign the 25-year-old he has instructed United’s hierarchy to pay Ter Stegen’s £157m release clause to bring him to Old Trafford.

Don Balon say the Red Devils will still need to sell more than just De Gea to raise the funds required to sign Ter Stegen though.

And Mourinho knows his best chance of pocketing a large sum would be to sell the likes of Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford.

Widespread reports suggest Martial is already considering his future at the club and is seeking assurances from Mourinho before signing a new contract.

Rashford has also seen himself struggle for minutes since Alexis Sanchez’s arrival and Madrid are known admirers of the England international.
Despite his young talent, Don Balon say Mourinho is considering selling him, along with Martial, if it means bringing in Ter Stegen to replace Madrid-bound De Gea.

Meanwhile, Ter Stegen recently named De Gea in his top five goalkeepers in the world.

“De Gea, Neuer, Buffon, Alisson, Ederson,” he said.

“I can’t say who is the best, because all of them have their qualities.

“There are many goalkeepers out there who can make a difference.”
