PAUL SCHOLES has warned Paul Pogba could sensationally quit Manchester United in the summer as a result of his clash with Jose Mourinho.
Pogba has endured a difficult 2018 with poor form leading to a behind the scenes rift with Mourinho.
Reports have suggested the pair aren’t on speaking terms and Mourinho is willing to let Manchester United’s record signing leave if he doesn’t see an improvement from the Frenchman.
The likes of Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are best placed to sign Pogba if he was made available for transfer, while he was offered to Manchester City in January.
And the asked if Pogba could leave Old Trafford this summer, Scholes told BT Sport: “I think he could.
“I don’t know, I don’t speak to anyone at the club but from the outside looking in, it looks as though the relationship isn’t great.
“And when you see a performance like that on Sunday (against West Brom) you think he doesn’t care what the manager thinks.
“I think that’s disrespectful towards the manager and his team-mates.”
Pogba has endured a mixed few weeks at Old Trafford , excelling in the 3-2 win over Manchester City but then putting in a disastrous performance versus West Brom last Sunday.
Yet he proved his critics wrong on Wednesday night with a man-of-the-match display in the 2-0 triumph at Bournemouth.
Earlier this month, Paul Pogba insisted he did not have an issue with Mourinho.
“It’s true [being benched] has never happened to me, but it can strengthen me,” Pogba said.
“You have to go through these periods to make you stronger. There is no problem with Mourinho. It’s not me who picks the team.
“Ask the coach if you want to know why I play less. I respect his choices.”
And when asked if he was considering leaving, Pogba added: “It’s too early to talk about a departure from United, the situation can change.”
