Tweneboah Koduah SHS Head interdicted over sexual misconduct claims

The Ashanti Regional Education Directorate has interdicted the headmaster of the Tweneboah Koduah Senior High School, Francis Badu Agyare, following allegations of sexual misconduct involving three female students.

The directive follows a petition by some teachers of the school to the Kumawu Traditional Council about his conduct.

The teachers had earlier threatened a sit-down strike if immediate action was not taken against the headmaster.

Speaking to Citi News, District Chief Executive of Sekyere Kumawu, Samuel Osei Agyekum, said the District Education Director currently oversees the operations of the school.

“The GES is investigating all the allegations levelled against him and till they finish with the investigations, he has to step aside and as I am speaking, the District Education Director has taken over the management of the school,” Mr. Agyekum disclosed.

Similarly, nine teachers of the Ejisuman Senior High School, also in the Ashanti Region, were interdicted following allegations of sexual assault on some female students of the school.

This compelled the Education Minister, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, to warn that the government would take on any Regional Director of Education who fails to protect female students who are victims of sexual abuse by teachers in Senior High Schools across the country.

The Minister indicated that boarding schools cannot be used as brothels by male teachers who usually engage in sexual relationships with their female students.
