Don’t compare me with Mahama – Joshua Alabi

Even though Professor Joshua Alabi admits former President John Dramani Mahama did his best under his tenure as Commander-In-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces, he does not want to be compared with him when it comes to the question of delivery.

“I am not going to compare myself with John Mahama or anything here that is not what I do. You have asked me to talk about myself …so let me talk about myself”, he told Kyenkyenhene Boateng on GhanaWeb.

He observed that John Mahama may have done his best yet lost at the last elections, the NDC as a party needs to collectively go back to the voters to find out if indeed the party delivered as it expected and establish what accounted for its abysmal performance at the polls.

According to him, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) embarked on a number of projects it failed to give a campaign of hope for the citizenry which the then opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) capitalized on and won the hearts of voters.

“We did a lot of things and then we went to tell them what we have done. We thought based on that they will vote for us, we should have told them yes! … we have done one, two and three but we are going to this next. That NPP filled that gap by telling them one village, one dam, one district one factory even though some of them never believed that could happen, that was a message of hope”, he disclosed in the literally hot interview.

Asked if the NDC did not have the right message, he responded in the affirmative. “Oh yes, our message was not quite well”

Professor Alabi said he is not by that asking members of the party to lie but they failed to give Ghanaians a very good campaign message that resonated with what Ghanaians expected for which reason they lost out at the polls.
