Be rest assured – Pentecost Chairman tells Ministers

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Prof. Opoku Onyinah, has asked heads and the rank and file of the Church to relax and be rest assured in the Lord in the run-up to the election of a new Chairman.

Speaking at the opening session of the Heads Meeting on Monday, April 30, 2018, ahead of the 43rd General Council Meeting which starts on Wednesday at the Pentecost Convention Centre, Gomoa Fetteh, Apostle Prof. Opoku Onyinah said the Lord is in full control of His church and will choose the right person to lead the Church.

The main purpose of the Executive Council consultative meeting with the heads is to consult them on some of the major decisions taken by the Executive Council before presenting them to the General Council.

The main attraction of this year’s General Council Meeting is the election of the next Chairman following the retirement of Apostle Prof. Opoku Onyinah in August this year, after serving his two 5-year mandate and for serving the Church for 42 years.
The Chairman explained that the current General Secretary, Apostle Alexander Nana Yaw Kumi-Larbi, who has served his first 5-year term in office would be assessed by the Executive Council for re-nomination for the position.

He disclosed that two members of the Executive Council namely, Apostles Dr. Alfred Koduah and Ekow Badu Wood, who have served on the Council for 15 and 10 years respectively, and are nearing their retirement ages, will be replaced.

In the case of Apostles Eric Nyamekye and Ousmane Patinde Zabre, the Chairman said, their terms are due but have not reached their retirement ages, and are therefore eligible for renomination.

He commended both the outgoing members of the Executive Council and those eligible for renomination for their dedicated services to the Church, saying, “They have been pillars in the Council and deserve commendation at the highest level.”
Apostle Prof. Opoku Onyinah, who is chairing the Heads Meeting for the last time, thanked the Lord for His abundance graces upon The Church of Pentecost for the strides the Church has made over the past decade under his chairmanship.

He said in the past ten years, over 1.3million new members have been added to the Church, making The Church of Pentecost not only a highly recognised international church, but one of the fastest growing churches in the world. “The Lord has been gracious to us as a church; there has been abundance of His grace upon the Church,” he stressed.

The Chairman thanked the immediate-past Chairman, Apostle Dr Michael Ntumy and the then Executive Council, for nominating him some ten years ago for the chairmanship position. He also thanked the College of Apostles and Prophets and the General Council for the confidence reposed in him by confirming his nomination.

Touching on the next Chairman, he stated that when the time is due for the election, the Church will realise that the Executive Council has done due diligence to its mandate.
He, therefore, entreated all and sundry “to be rest assured, not to be anxious about anything but trust that the Lord has heard our prayers and will give us the one he has appointed for his church.”
