Who is Augustine Boakye?

I am a Ghanaian and hail from Bompata in the Ashanti Region, the last of four siblings. I currently stay at Accra Newtown with my parents where this dream all began. I love to play football and it’s the only sports that makes me happy. A midfielder and left footed as well.

How did you begin this dream?

I was discovered by Mr. Marcus Bediako who was the owner and coach of Generation X at Accra Newtown. I wanted to play but my parents were not in support of the idea. It took Mr. Bediako to convince my parents and he assured them I was in good hands and company. Through Generation X, I moved to JMG academy where I was taught and learnt so many things that has helped improve my play.

How was life in JMG Academy and WAFA now?

It was difficult in the beginning as we left Oyibi to Cote D’ivoire but it became more fun when I got

used to life and started speaking French.  At JMG Academy, It was a normal daily routine in the

academy: sleep, play, learn and eat. I met so many young African footballers with different cultures.

Malian U17 star SALAM GIDDOU was my mate in the academy. WAFA is no different from JMG.

How do you see the Ghana premier league?

Very competitive and challenging especially when we are playing away from our comfort zone. So far so good for me. I have scored one and assisted three.

Who is your role model?

I don’t have a particular player I look up to but I enjoy watching clips of ANDRES INIESTA, ANDREA MESSI, ZINEDINE ZIDANE, STEPHEN APPIAH and SULLEY ALI MUNTARI and try to learn something from them.
