I love to project Africa – Kelvyn Boy

Since he burst onto the music scene, Stonebwoy protégé, Kelvyn Boy has found a way of attracting audiences with his style, which is heavy on African sounds.

In November last year, he released Afrobeats, a song which praises Nigeria’s Fela Kuti and Kelvyn Boy tells Showbiz his mission is to portray the “music of Africa” in these modern times.

“Africans have an identity and that is why I love to infuse African rhythms into my music.

Already, I’m enjoying the identity I have created within the short time because I love to project Africa,” he said

According to the Unsung Artiste of the Year at this year’s VGMA, his assignment to promote African music has inspired him to consider collaborating with Grammy award winner, Angelique Kidjo.



“I take a lot of motivation from our artistes who promote authentic African sounds because I believe that is the way to go. It doesn’t matter the genre of music one is doing, we can always tell where we come from with our African rhythms,” he said.

He made an impact on the industry with songs such as No War and Hard Boy and Kelvyn Boy, who is signed onto Stonebwoy’s Burniton Records, is hopeful of bigger things this year.

He is working towards that success with the release of a new song titled Coffee. Produced by PossiGee, the song pays homage to the African woman, her body and the pleasures it offers.

Born Kelvin Brown, Kelvyn Boy is a product of Osei Tutu Senior High School in the Ashanti region.

He nurtured his talent from primary school and as a member of his church’s choir and today, he is the author of well -received songs like Pray, Toffee and Na You.
