Anthony Martial to Arsenal: Robert Pires backs summer transfer, criticises Jose Mourinho

ARSENAL legend Robert Pires admits he would welcome the signing of Manchester United forward Anthony Martial this summer.
Martial has been something of a bit-part player since Jose Mourinho arrived at Manchester United in the summer of 2016.

The Frenchman’s chances of first-team football was hampered further by the arrival of Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal in January.

Martial has been linked with an exit from United, with Chelsea one of the clubs rumoured to be interested.



But Pires reckons it would be a smart piece of business if Arsenal could prise him away from Old Trafford.
And he has questioned why Mourinho has not played him more often this season.

“I’m a big fan of Anthony Martial,” Pires told bwin.

“He’s very fast, he has excellent dribbling skills and he has the potential to score a lot of goals, but I think he has to play more football.
“I don’t know why he isn’t playing more for Manchester United and Mourinho needs to show more confidence in him.

“I would welcome him at Arsenal!”

Martial has scored 11 goals in 44 appearances for Manchester United this season.
