The McDan Group of Companies has over the years supported Sports and Education in Ghana. McDan group has committed GHc 2million for the construction of astro turf football pitches for the La-Dadekotopon communities.
Group Chairman of the Companies, Dr. Daniel Mckorley, an ardent sports fan was joined by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Hon. Isaac Asiamah, Member of Parliament of La Dadekotopon, Mr. Vincent Odotei, Municipal Chief Executive, Madam Gladys Mann-Dedey and some members of the community who witnessed the sod-cutting of the GHc 2million project.
Speaking at the ceremony,Dr. Daniel Mckorley, shared light on the need to develop the grassroots sports in the country while impacting the lives of the youth. He added that good facilities play a vital role in unearthing talents.
“to us we believe that there is the need to develop the grassroots sports in the country and we are committed to not only making profit from our businesses but also impacting lives. The facility play a vital role in the development of the sports in the country “ he said.
He added that, McDan’s commitment to support the youth has been the Groups way of giving back to the society.
Hon. Isaac Asiamah who the honoured invitation for the ground breaking project at the La Dadekotopon, lauded McDan Group of Companies for taking keen interest in developing sports in the Country.
Hon. Asiamah expressed that the initiative taken by McDan Group of Companies was also in line with the Government effort to develop multipurpose sports facilities in the country. He added that there was the need to enhance maintenance culture in the country especially the facilities provided by stakeholders for the development of Sports in the country. Hon. Asiamah shared that the Ministry is in the process of developing a maintenance manual for the various sports facilities across the country.
Hon. Vincent Odotei also lauded the outstanding contribution by McDan Group of Companies for setting the pace to construct an artificial turf for the community. He expressed his joy and thanked the Group Chairman for the project.
Meanwhile, other communities to benefit from the project are Okponglo community in East Legon and La-Bawaleshie community park as sources close to Project confirmed.
The GHc 2 million project is handled by Wembley Sports Construction Company which is expected to be completed in four (4) months.
