JOSE MOURINHO ‘enjoyed’ the failure of Marcus Rashford at Manchester United, according to pundit Jermaine Jenas.
The youngster has struggled since the Portuguese’s arrival at Old Trafford, losing his starting role to January arrival Alexis Sanchez in recent months.
Rashford has been urged to leave United this summer in order to gain regular first team football.
However, Mourinho has insisted he wants the 21-year-old to remain at the Premier League runners-up.
But Jenas believes the Red Devils boss has ‘enjoyed’ Rashford’s failings this term.
“I found what he did after that Brighton game disgusting to be honest with you,” he told BBC Radio 5 live.
“When you are managing a young player like Marcus Rashford, the thing that I really didn’t like about it was for him to come out as publicly as he did at that time.
“The comments about Lukaku were a direct shot at Rashford.
“Now, it was almost like he enjoyed the failure of Rashford.
“It gave him the opportunity to say shut up, I am right and you’re wrong and that is not a point you should be using on a young player.”
Rashford is unlikely to start in Saturday’s FA Cup Final, despite the fitness doubts surrounding Romelu Lukaku.
United take on Chelsea this afternoon at 5.15pm.
