Mahama most experienced to contest Akufo-Addo for power – Kwakye Ofosu

A former Deputy Minister for Communications, Kwakye Ofosu, the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) cannot present any candidate who is more knowledgeable and experienced in governance to contest President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for power in the 2020 Presidential election than the former President, John Dramani Mahama.

The former Ghanaian leader in a post on his Facebook wall, Sunday, May 2018, gave an indication of his preparedness to contest the flag bearer position of the umbrella family looking at the numerous calls he has received from the rank and file of the NDC.

“I want to congratulate the rank and file and executives of our party, the NDC, at all levels for the commitment and work rate we have put into our reorganization efforts. The zeal and determination of the average sympathizer of our party is greater and miles ahead of what it was after the December 2016 elections. We need to keep up with the momentum generated and follow the published timelines”.

“To you the teeming supporters and sympathizers calling and requesting me to declare my intentions for the future, I wish to assure you today, that as a servant-leader, I have listened to your calls and reflected. I will not disappoint you even as we await the publication of the party’s guidelines for selecting a new leader”, noted Mr. Mahama on his Facebook wall.

In the view of Kwakye Ofosu, the intent of the former has given followers of the NDC hope to brace themselves up for power in the 2020 general elections.

Interacting with Accra-based Okay FM, Monday, May 21, 2018, the former deputy Communications Minister said the former President is at the moment the best bet the NDC can count on going into elections 2020.

“I am happy that the former President has decided to make this move to redeem Ghana from economic hardship. He has been an Assemblyman, MP, Deputy Minister, Minister, Vice-President and President before. Nobody in Ghana at the moment is more knowledgeable in governance than former President Mahama. So, if it has become necessary to push out the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) led by President Nana Addo and bring in a new President, then it must be the former President John Mahama”, he noted.

He added “It is based on his experience in governance at this moment that he is the best person in the NDC to contest Nana Addo for power”.
