World Cup snub!

World Cup fever is starting to set in with the excitement building as final 23-man squads are announced ahead of Russia 2018.

There were few surprises in Gareth Southgate’s England team, with Joe Hart and Jack Wilshere the only high-profile casualties who did not make the cut.

However, the same cannot be said for Spain as a huge number of Premier League stars including Chelsea trio Cesc Fabregas, Pedro and Alvaro Morata were omitted.

The frightening depth of France’s talent pool means the likes of Anthony Martial, Alexandre Lacazette and Karim Benzema will all be left at home – but who else is set for a summer on the sofa?

Take a look through the gallery BELOW to see a squad of high-profile stars who have been snubbed from World Cup 2018 squads.
Jose Mourinho makes Paul Pogba suggestion

Jose Mourinho has reportedly told Paul Pogba to consider a stunning move to Real Madrid, according to reports.

Spanish website Diario Gol say Mourinho has decided to end the star’s United career after two difficult seasons on the trot.

He has reportedly held showdown talks with Pogba and urged him to consider an offer to leave Real.

However, club president Florentino Perez may need some convincing.

Zinedine Zidane is said to be in favour of signing Pogba, who he wanted during the 25-year-old’s time at Juventus.

Perez, though, may look elsewhere given his troublesome relationship with the United star’s agent, Mino Raiola.
Jose Mourinho eyes Kieran McKenna

Jose Mourinho has reportedly added to his backroom staff with assistant Rui Faria leaving Old Trafford.

Faria is departing after 17 years alongside Mourinho and the Portuguese boss is having a complete reshuffle with his staff.

And the Daily Record report that former Tottenham academy coach Kieran McKenna will join the team.

McKenna will step up from his role as Under-18 coach having guided the side to second in the Professional Under-18 Development League 1 North in the first stage of his debut season before finishing fourth in Division 1 of the national second stage.

Toby Alderweireld to spark Anthony Martial deal

Tottenham are hoping that Manchester United’s move for Toby Alderweireld could spark a deal for Anthony Martial, reports claim.

Spurs are resigned to losing Alderweireld in the summer, who has refused to commit his future to the club.

The Belgian has one year left to run on his existing contract and a clause in it means he could be snapped up for £25million next year.

But Mauricio Pochettino hopes the funds generated from his sale will finance a deal for Anthony Martial, according to the Evening Standard.

The report suggests they are hoping that United’s interest in Alderweireld could persuade Jose Mourinho to sanction Martial’s departure.
David de Gea boost

Real Madrid are set to make a move for Gianluigi Buffon with Manchester United reluctant to sell David De Gea, according to reports.

Zinedine Zidane’s side have ramped up their interest in the Spaniard again but El Gol Digital claim United will not sell this summer.

Instead, Los Blancos will turn their attention to legendary goalkeeper Buffon.

The Italian is leaving Juventus after 17 years with the club and could be drawn to the Spanish capital with the hope of winning the Champions League.

It is also claimed that Manchester United are willing to negotiate a deal for De Gea next summer, should the 27-year-old wish to leave Old Trafford.
