Man Utd transfer news: Fred set to complete move TODAY as Jose Mourinho gets his man

MANCHESTER UNITED are set to complete the signing of Fred today.
The Brazil international underwent a medical at Carrington yesterday and will become the club’s first summer signing.

Fred raced up to Manchester from Liverpool after playing in Brazil’s 2-0 win over Croatia at Anfield on Sunday.

He passed his medical and has gone through the formalities of the deal over the last 24 hours.

And the 25-year-old will be announced as a Manchester United player today.

United are expected to then agree the deal to sign Portuguese right back Diogo Dalot, who is due for a medical this week, before moving on to Toby Alderweireld and a left-back.
United have been urged to tie the deal for Fred up before Brazil leave the UK later this week as they prepare for the World Cup.

He said: “Something like this speculation is inevitable when you’re meeting in the summer and players are always thinking of their careers.

“What we say is please resolve it as soon as possible so your head is back with us and focused on the national team.

“But if I was the manager of a club team, I would be looking to sign him!”

And former Shakhtar Donetsk manager Mircea Lucescu has congratulated him on the move.

“I’m really pleased Fred has completed his transfer to Manchester United, I am proud of him,” said Lucescu, who now manages Turkey.
“When I signed him at Shakhtar, Taison and Bernard were playing in his position.

“I transformed his position, giving him a more defensive role.”

South American football expert Tim Vickery has revealed what kind of player Jose Mourinho is getting.

Vickery told BBC 5 live Sport: “They are getting a little, stocky, left footed midfielder who will bring real dynamism.

“He can work box-to-box, he’s got a lovely left foot, he’s improving very nicely.
He’s picked up valuable European experience.

“When it first seemed he was coming to the Premier League, it looked as though it would be Man City.

“He played for Shakhtar against City in the Champions League.

“[Pep] Guardiola was very, very impressed and you can see something in his career of a mini left footed version of Fernandinho.

“But it is United it seems who are going to sign him and I think they are getting a very fine player for their money.”
