FRED picked up an injury during Brazil’s training camp last night on the eve of the World Cup.
The new Manchester United midfielder was seen leaving the training session in discomfort after a tackle from Casemiro.
Jose Mourinho will be sweating on the situation after United agreed a £53m deal to sign the 25-year-old from Shakhtar Donetsk.
And Tite, the Brazil boss, is hoping he will be able to play in Russia.
What happened?
Fred was tackled by Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro in a rigorous training session at Tottenham’s training base in London.
He left the session and was seen with ice strapped to his ankle on the sidelines, sparking fears.
How bad is it?
The Brazil team doctor, Rodrigo Lasmar, said: “Today Fred had trauma in his ankle but it is too early to say anything about it.
“Tomorrow we watch to see what happens and then decide if we need to do any exams or not but at the moment it is too early to say anything about him.”
Will he miss the World Cup?
Last night AS claimed he was in danger of missing the World Cup due to the injury, but Brazil are being cautious with their diagnosis.
When do Brazil play?
Brazil start their World Cup campaign against Switzerland on Sunday 17 June and play their final warm up match against Austria this Sunday.
