EDEN HAZARD can be the best Chelsea player in the club’s history – if he stays this summer.
That is the view of his Chelsea team-mate Cesc Fabregas, who is desperate for the playmaker to remain at Stamford Bridge.
Hazard is wanted at Real Madrid and there are claimed he has rejected a new £340,000-a-week contract at Chelsea.
His current deal expires in 2020 but he would likely be sold this summer if he requests a move.
Hazard is currently starring with Belgium at the World Cup.
And Fabregas reckons the best thing for him is to remain at Chelsea.
“Eden Hazard has the qualities to be the best, especially now Cristiano (Ronaldo) and Leo (Messi) are getting older,” the Spaniard wrote in the Telegraph.
“He can also be a club legend for Chelsea if he stays.
“All I say to him is it’s up to him how far he wants to get because he has all the attributes and he is still at the age where he can be the best with the likes of Neymar and maybe (Kylian) Mbappe.
“Talent-wise he is up there, I have no doubt about it. He’s strong, he’s quick, he can dribble.
“But I think Eden can score more goals than what he thinks he can. I believe in him more than he does!”
Chelsea are on the verge of appointing Maurizio Sarri as their new manager – a move that could leave to Eden Hazard wanting to leave.
The playmaker admitted earlier this month that the decision on the manager was key to his future, hinting that if Antonio Conte is sacked, he will walk too.
“If I stay then it would be because they are going to improve on last season,” he said. “I am not going to remain if they are going to be worse.
“Real Madrid could be interesting for me as everyone knows. They know what they have to do if they want me,” he said.
“If it is going to Madrid just to go there then no. I need a project and at Chelsea I have one.
“If I have a good World Cup then it will all be a lot easier.
“I don’t want to speak about transfers at the moment because I have been asked a lot and in London I have won everything except for the Champions League. I am at this stage of my career thanks to Chelsea.”
