DIEGO MARADONA celebrated a terrific Lionel Messi goal in Argentina’s World Cup win over Nigeria.
Maradona remains an Argentine icon and has been following the team around this tournament.
The former player and manager of the national team was present to entertain fans ahead of kick off.
And entertain them he certainly did. Maradona was spotted hyping up the fans by chanting and shouting way ahead of kick off.
He stood in a Christ-like pose and then unveiled a strange-looking flag or beach towel that had a young Maradona printed in front of a stained glass window.
Whether Maradona truly thinks he’s the son of God we may never know.
But his rival to the title of Argentina’s greatest ever player – Lionel Messi – was not to be outshone.
Messi scored early in the match in St Petersburg and the camera cut to Maradona, who was seen celebrating the goal wildly.
