Old Vandals Celebrates 2018 Republic Day – Jamboree

 

Old Vandals Association, Alumni of Commonwealth Hall, University of Ghana are set for their long weekend mini homecoming.

The annual mini homecoming of the Old Vandals which is organized every Republic Day (1st July) christened- Jamboree, would be hosting some dignitaries, members of the University community and the General public.

This year’s event will start from Friday 29th June to Monday 2nd July 2018. The theme for this year’s edition is “Mobilising Alumni Support for Commonwealth Hall”.

In a statement issued by the National Secretary of the Old Vandals Association, Mr. Kweku Ahinful Biney, he stated that the 2018 Jamboree also coincides with the 25th Anniversary of the 1993-year group of Old Vandals and that most of the activities would be handled by the year group.



He highlighted some of the activities lined up for the weekend. On Sunday, there would be a route march of all Vandals within University of Ghana Campus from 6:00am which will end with unity breakfast at 8:30am.

He further noted that there would be a friendly soccer match between the 1993-year group and Vandals at 3:00pm in University of Ghana Campus. Saturday evening would be a live band session with Old Vandals and friends.

The main program according to the secretary is on Sunday 1st July 2018 christened “Jamboree”.

He added that, the fraternity would host the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Joseph Osei-Owusu as the Special Guest of Honour and Commissioner of Insurance, Justice Yaw Ofori as the Chairman. The program is scheduled at 11:30am at the Bacchus Garden in Commonwealth Hall after thanksgiving service.

Finally, on Monday 2nd July, there would be a networking and family hangout sessions known in the Vandal fraternity as “mpusuo”.

Meanwhile, reports from our Legon correspondence indicated that, delegation from the Old Vandals Association Australia, UK arrived on Friday morning and the North American branch is expected to touch ground at 9pm.
