Rashid Sumaila happy to have joined Red Star Belgrade

Ghana international Rashid Sumaila says he is very happy ad hopeful for the future after signing for Serbian giants Red Star Belgrade on a season long loan deal.

The 25 year old Black Stars central defender itemized the European history of his new paymasters and pledged to contribute his personal quota after officially joining club on a year-long deal.

The former Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC enjoyed a remarkable campaign in the Far East with Al Qadisia in the Kuwait league to earn himself a move into the mainstream of European football.



The Ghanaian import, tipped by many to be a Black Stars trusted defensive player, highlighted the traditional nature of his club and the need to extend the winning habit surrounding the club.

“I’m delighted to be here at Crvena Zvezda. I’m here to help the team and hopefully improve as a player. This is a big club with rich history.

“The team has had a great season in the Europa League last term and I’m happy to contribute to this team. I’m a natural born winner.

“I can’t stand losing and this is why I will give my best to help this club win every time,” he told the club’s website.

Rashid Sumaila won the Ghana premier league defender of the year in 2011 whiles with Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC.
