The Elders and residents of Assin Dansame led by Okofo Twum Barima V, the chief of the said community are calling upon the Inspector General of Police, David Asante Appietu and the interior minister, hon Ambrose Derry with immediate effect, transfer or sack the Assin Praso police commander, Supt. Sabalinko and the Assin Fosu Divisional crime officer from the municipality over insecurity and injustice at Assin Dansame community under their watch.
In a petition released addressing to the Inspector General of police by the chief of Assin Dansame, Okofo Twum Barima V stated, Peace and stability has took to its heels for couple of years between the ‘Asona’ Clan and the ‘Asenenee’ Clan in the same Assin Dansame community.
“Since 2016, the town Dansame has not seen peace. The Ogyeabatafour, the Asona clan Chief and his people has tormented the town till today” the petition stated.
According to the chief of the area, the peace and stability of the Assin Dansame community of the Assin north municipal in the central region became as take when the entire community decided to tidy up the Dansame cemetery.
“The problem started when the community decided to clear and weed the cemetery. On that day, the Kontihene and the Okyeame ( Linguist ) who went to pour libation before the communal labour were attacked by 5 people namely, Kwaku Tetteh, Yaw Toffee, Kwame Bronya, Yaw Asare and Asare Baffour”.
According to the chief, those perpetrators and lawbreakers are left go Scot free without being brought to book.
Notwithstanding, Okofo Twum Barima V stated in the petition that, earlier 2017, another group led by Kwame Rich and his brother attacked Yaw Asamoah and wounded him.
Also, one Kwame Bronya shot at Nana Yaa and her husband but missed his target and he was arrested by Assin Praso police and subsequently on bail.
Moreover, on the 7th, February, 2018, the town inaugurated the M.T.N network of which the Ogyeabatafour and elders stood in their ground seriously against the mounting of the tower.
The petition stated, Kwaku Tetteh, Asare Baffour, Nana Brako, Kojo Ntiamoah, Osei Yaw, Yaw Sarfo, Kwaku Prince, Kwaku Musah and Kwabena Nyarko, they left indications at the Okyeame and Kontihene’s house with arms to kill them.
“on the night the under listed boys went to the Okyeame and Kontihene’s house with local pistol, club bottles and cutlasses to kill them.”
The Chief of Assin Dansame stated that from that period, there has been a series of threatening and intimidation in the town. Adding that, those lawbreakers are drug addict. Also, possess local manufactured pistols which poised threat to the peace and stability in the affected community.
The youth and elders felt disappointed in the Assin Praso police command and the Assin Fosu Divisional police crime officer for sitting on the fence, the clampdown of the lawbreakers threatening the peace of the country.
“All these cases has been reported to Assin Praso Police Headquarters and no serious action has been taken”
They are therefore appealing to the IGP and the interior minister to assist solve the problem before any bad incident happens between the two Asona clan and the Asenenee family in the Assin Dansame community.
