The Executive Director of the National Identification Authority (NIA), Prof. Ken Agyeman Attafuah, has assured that the authority will not allow technology to exclude any Ghanaian from registering for the Ghana Card.
He said the NIA will also ensure that non-Ghanaians are excluded from registering for the card.
“We’ll not let technology oppress or exclude anyone. We’ll also not let the fact of not having documentation by way of birth certificate or a passport exclude any Ghanaian but we’ll do all within our power to exclude every person who is not a Ghanaian who will seek to register for the Ghana card,” he stated.
Prof Attafuah said this in an interaction with the media when he led staff of the NIA to register and issue the Ghana card to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at his palace on Monday, 9 July 2018.
The NIA had earlier registered members of the National House of Chiefs and the Ghana Bar Association in the Ashanti region.
Prof Attafuah pleaded with Ghanaians to help the NIA to police the nation’s boundaries to prevent non-Ghanaians from registering for the card.
