CHELSEA could be offered the chance to sign Arturo Vidal from Bayern Munich.
That is according to the German press today, who claim the midfielder is seeking a route out of Germany.
Vidal, 31, has long been linked with a move to the Premier League.
Manchester United have historically been the club most associated with a swoop for the player.
But he has so far eluded the clutches of English football, having swapped Juventus for Bayern in 2015.
But three years on and the player wants out of the Allianz Arena.
That is according to German newspaper Bild, who claim Vidal is one of four players the Bundesliga giants are desperate to keep, but may reluctantly sell.
And the sports daily suggests that Chelsea could end up bidding for his services.
According to the report, Vidal has eyes on a move to either Italy or England.
Bild claim he wants to join either Chelsea or Napoli.
Napoli have ex-Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti in charge for the new season and Vidal may jump at the chance of a return to Serie A.
However, the report claims the Chilean is also tempted by Chelsea if manager Maurizio Sarri makes an offer.
Sarri has so far signed one player – Jorginho – as he looks to rebuild Chelsea’s squad ahead of the new season.
Deals for Gonzalo Higuain, Daniele Rugani and Alexandr Golovin are also being worked on.
A move for Vidal could be reasonably cheap – Bayern may not want to sell but he has just 12 months left on his contract.
But at the age of 31 his arrival into the midfield may destabilise the current crop, with Danny Drinkwater, Ross Barkley and Cesc Fabregas all expected to struggle for game time next term.
