MANCHESTER UNITED boss Jose Mourinho is still angry with Eric Bailly, a report has suggested.
Manchester United boss Mourinho demoted Bailly towards the end of last season, much to the dismay of Red Devils fans.
The Ivory Coast international’s absence was put down to the fact other players needed minutes ahead of the World Cup.
However, Manchester United supporters think otherwise and many feared he would be sold this summer.
Bailly, so far at least, is yet to push for a move away but has been posting videos on social media of himself in training.
It all feels rather pointed, with the United defender clearly trying to make a point to Mourinho and other coaches at Old Trafford.
And the Manchester Evening News say Mourinho is still angry at Bailly for failing to condition himself in a manner he sees fit.
Bailly has, undoubtedly, been working hard on his fitness.
But the youngster has spent the last two years plagued by injuries, making just 18 appearances in the Premier League last season.
Mourinho reportedly views Bailly as too brittle – somewhat surprising, given the player’s physical attributes.
And whether he is able to turn his United career around remains to be seen.
Reports have claimed the Red Devils are eyeing up to eight centre-backs this summer – but Bailly’s situation is not linked.
They have so far been unable to prise Toby Alderweireld away from Tottenham.
And Napoli are likely to demand huge money to part with the influential Kalidou Koulibaly.
United drew 1-1 with Club America this morning and are next in action against AC Milan on Thursday (04:05am).
