MANCHESTER UNITED boss Jose Mourinho has been told to sign Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld instead of Leicester star Harry Maguire.
Both Alderweireld and Maguire have been linked with a move to Manchester United this summer.
Reports on Thursday claimed the Red Devils have made an approach to Leicester for England World Cup star Maguire.
However, the ESPN FC pundits do not think that would be the right option for Mourinho.
Liverpool legend Steve Nicol and former West Ham goalkeeper Shaka Hislop both said Alderweireld would be the better signing.
And ex-Fulham striker Brian McBride claimed Alderweireld is a better passer than Maguire.
“I would say Alderweireld also,” McBride said.
“They need somebody to be able to pass out of the back.”
Maguire only signed for Leicester from Hull for £17million last summer.
He shone for England at the World Cup and scored his first international goal in the quarter-final win over Sweden.
Alderweireld is out of contract at Tottenham at the end of the upcoming season.
Spurs could activate a one-year extension but then the Belgian would then be able to leave next summer for just £25m.
