Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri talks Willian future and club controversy after Arsenal defeat

MAURIZIO SARRI has revealed he intends to sit down with Willian to discuss his Chelsea future as well as his misdemeanour.
Willian has been strongly linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge this summer.

Manchester United have been closely connected with Jose Mourinho eager to reunite with the Brazilian.

Barcelona are also monitoring Willian and have had three bids rejected.

However, when pressed about Willian’s future after Chelsea’s penalty shoot-out defeat to Arsenal in the International Champions Cup, Sarri admitted he was unsure.

“Not at this moment, no, because I will see them on Saturday for the first time,” Sarri said.
“I don’t know the situation in this moment. There is no news.”

Sarri is adamant he wants to keep hold of Willian, who along with Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois could leave before the transfer window closes on August 9.

He continued: “Of course. We are talking about top players.

“Every club wants to keep their top players and we are trying to do it.”

Sarri revealed he wants to resolve what went on when Willian didn’t turn up for training.
He said: “I want to speak to him before I answer these questions. I want to speak to him.

“I am not happy about this situation but before I answer, I would like to speak to him.”

Meanwhile, the Blues are fine tuning their preparations and have the traditional curtain raiser of the Community Shield to look forward to against Manchester City on Sunday (3pm).

Sarri reckons the side that started against Arsenal could face City at Wembley, adding: “I don’t know in the Premier League.

“But the starting XI today is near, very near to my starting XI in the Community Shield.”
Meanwhile, Sarri is unsure what is behind Alvaro Morata’s malaise.

The Spaniard, who endured a turbulent campaign last term, missed a penalty against Arsenal and his confidence appears to be low.

But Sarri doesn’t think confidence is behind Morata’s slump, as he said: “I don’t know if he is low on confidence.

“Maybe it was hard for the last three days, intense, so maybe this match he was a bit tired. I am not worried about Morata.”
