We’re only chasing Charlotte Osei for state funds – Petitioners

The aggrieved Electoral Commission (EC) Staff whose petition caused the eventual removal of Charlotte Osei as EC Chairperson, have denied accusations of unjustifiably targeting the former EC Boss after relaunching a call at the doorstep of the Special Prosecutor for Osei to be prosecuted over alleged unlawful deals.

The former EC Boss thought her woes had ended when she was dismissed as the EC Chairperson, but it appears she was wrong as the petitioners have requested that the dismissed EC boss be prosecuted for causing financial loss to the State.

In their petition, the two[two, Forson Ampofo and Godsway Dadjoe,] cited the controversial Aerovote, STL, Dreamoval, and Quarzar contracts under Charlotte Osei’s tenure, as suspicious deals.

They requested that criminal investigations be instituted against her.

They also want her acquisition of a new Head Office for the Commission to be investigated.

Speaking to Kasapa 102.5 FM, one of the petitioners, Forson Ampofo maintained that they’re only seeking the interest of the nation denying accusations of any harassment or witch hunt following its renewed calls for Charlotte Osei to be dragged to court.

“We are not chasing Charlotte Osei for anything; we’re only chasing the State funds that seems to be locked up in the controversial deals she superintended on,” Ampofo explained.

President Nana Akufo-Addo on June 28, 2018, removed Charlotte Osei and her two deputies – Amadu Sulley and Georgina Opoku Amankwa from office upon the recommendation of a committee set up by the Chief Justice, to investigate separate complaints brought by some Ghanaian citizens.

Some of the allegations involved the unilateral award of contracts by the EC boss in the run-up to the 2016 general election.
