Vexed Yammin and Agyarko in near fist fight over galamsey deaths

Discussing national issues in the full glare of a camera appears to bring the worst in some politicians.

The situation can hang on the brink of a fistfight if the poking goes a little further into the face of a fellow speaker on the show.

UTV’s Adekye Nsroma was the latest ‘word fight’ arena for two very vocal politicians; NPP’s Emmanuel Kyeremanteng Agyarko and NDC’s Yammin, who exercised little restraint as they dished out insults, inappropriate, even in a private setting, on air.

The two were guests discussing anti galamsey operations that had resulted in the death of a resident of Obuasi.

“Shame on you for practising dirty politics,” Mr Agyarko riled at an equally irked Yammin. “Do you have any sense?” Yammin quizzed. “Would this trash spew out of your mouth if you had any sense?” he seemed to want more clarification on Agyarko’s state of mind.

The host played the worst role of a referee as she left both men to bark a chorus of “Don’t put words in my mouth,” for about four verses while they poked their forefingers into each other’s faces.

The decorum displayed by both high positioned men was as much as would be exercised by two school children trying to even scores with each other by proving how rowdy they can both be.




The most horrific part of the exchange was when both parties began to issue the “who are you?” politically self-entitled statement that makes a person in power feel superior in the eyes of his ‘inferiors’. Yammin, who would not easily back out of the ‘word war’ returned with “allow the wise to speak sense.” “Do you even have the respect of your own party? Do NPP members even respect you?” he spat at the now mellowing Agyarko whose comebacks now remained, “keep putting words in my mouth,” until the host finally ventured in.

“You are an arrogant man, you don’t respect anyone. You assume you can run anybody just like that,” Yammin accused the Ayawaso West Wuogon member of Parliament.

The final round was characterized by only a repetition of all the earlier rounds of accusing each other of “putting words in my mouth.”
