Man Utd news: Mourinho sent Depay demand, Zidane latest, Alderweireld on transfer

MANCHESTER UNITED news is coming thick and fast with the Red Devils currently preparing for Saturday’s clash with Watford. Express Sport brings you all the latest from Old Trafford with Jose Mourinho, Memphis Depay, Zinedine Zidane and Toby Alderweireld involved.
Mourinho sent Depay demand
Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho demanded the club put a buy-back clause in Memphis Depay’s Lyon contract.

That’s according to the Mirror, who say Red Devils boss was mindful of how Depay could flourish away from Old Trafford.

Manchester United were forced to cough up a massive £89million to sign Paul Pogba from Juventus two years ago, after previously letting him go to Turin for free.

And, in order to avoid a repeat, Mourinho supposedly insisted the club put a clause in his Lyon deal.
Zidane latest
Zinedine Zidane has decided he is ready to return to management after leaving Real Madrid back in May.

The Frenchman quit the Bernabeu to take a sabbatical, having steered Los Blancos to three Champions League wins on the trot.

And Zidane said: “I am sure that I will coach again before long.

“This is what I like and what I have done all my life.”
Alderweireld speaks out
Toby Alderweireld has insisted he was never close to a move from Tottenham to Manchester United this summer.

“Everyone was saying everywhere that I absolutely wanted to leave Tottenham,” he said.

“That’s not true. This summer, I quickly understood Tottenham wanted to keep me.

“So, I had to battle to get my place back in the team. To be in the first team again is a victory for me.”
Giggs on Mourinho
Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has insisted Jose Mourinho is NOT on borrowed time at Old Trafford.

He said: “No, I think, obviously they won their last game.

“International break might come at a good time.

“Hopefully, it is always a worrying time at clubs, you want your players to come back fit and well.

“Now, hopefully, I am a Man United fan, hopefully, we can go on a run now.”
