Real Madrid news: Gareth Bale asked about Premier League return – here’s his answer

REAL MADRID star Gareth Bale has opted against ruling out a return to the Premier League.
Bale called time on his career in England five years ago when he left Tottenham for Real in a then-world-record £85m deal.

And he’s since got his hands on 11 medals, including playing a starring role in winning four Champions League titles.

Gareth Bale bagged twice as Real beat Liverpool in the final of Europe’s premier club competition back in May.
And afterwards he suggested he could bring the curtain down on his time at the Bernabeu having been in and out of Zinedine Zidane’s team.
Speculation subsequently linked Bale with a return to the Premier League, with Manchester United at the front of the queue to snap him up.

Chelsea, likewise, were credited with interest in the 29-year-old as Real eyed up Stamford Bridge ace Eden Hazard in turn.

It was Zidane who made way though, citing the demands of the modern game as reason to step down.

And Bale has since had a hand in five goals as Real Madrid have collected 10 points from their first four games of the season.
Bale will no doubt see plenty of rumours about his future circulating when the transfer window next opens.



And he has refused to rule out heading back to England, while admitting he’s happy in Madrid for the time being.

“You can say yes and no,” Bale told the Daily Mail, when asked if he’d like to return to the Premier League one day.

“You always want to come back and play in your home league and a part of you will always miss home.
But I’m enjoying playing for the biggest club in the world and winning trophies.”

Zidane was replaced by former Spain boss Julen Lopetegui, whose pre-World Cup appointment cost him the national team job.

Bale says the fact Lopetegui can speak English is beneficial as he’s not yet fluent in Spanish.

“Obviously it helps,” Bale said.
“In Spanish I can talk (to a manager) but maybe not go into that amount of detail with them that I would need to.”

Bale started from the off against Athletic Bilbao at the weekend but was unable to help secure three points.

He will be eager to impress on Wednesday night when Real return to Champions League action.

Lopetegui’s men play host to Roma, who reached the semi-finals of last season’s competition.
