The National Disaster Management has said it is taking measures to recall the expired oil products that were mistakenly added to the items distributed to flood victims in Wa in the upper West region by the Vice President.
According to NADMO, the expired oil had been earmarked to be disposed but mistakenly got mixed up in the items selected for donation by government.
The action by NADMO comes after the opposition National Democratic Congress executives in the region raised concerns after noticing the expired dates on the oil products.
Cooking oil and rice were among food items distributed to flood victims in Wa and Sissala East municipalities by the Vice President during his visit to the region on Saturday.
NADMO in a statement denied claims that the products were procured by the Vice President and said it takes full responsibility for the error and has taken measures to deal with the situation.
“All items distributed to the three Northern Regions were not purchased by the Vice President’s office, but were all supplied from the NADMO.
“NADMO takes full responsibility for the said mistakes, and assures the general public that no such unfortunate incident will recur”.
