A founding member of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) Dr. Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe has revealed that Madam Joyce Tamakloe, mother of businessman Ibrahim Mahama was a major financier of the party.
According to the former Ghana Ambassador to Serbia, who’s an Uncle to Ibrahim Mahama, a brother of ex President Mahama, Madam Joyce Tamakloe’s financial contributions to the NPP cannot be denied by any leading member of the party.
He said it is sad that after Ibrahim Mahama late mother’s contribution to the NPP, some elements in the governing party are allegedly bent on collapsing his businesses ever since the party assumed power.
There is perception among a section of the public that Ibrahim Mahama who supported his brother’s Presidential bid is being persecuted by the NPP administration in a bid to rundown his businesses.
The Akufo Addo led government in 2017, revoked a multi-billion cedi bauxite concession granted to Ibrahim Mahama’s company at the tail end of his brother, John Dramani Mahama’s presidency in 2016, contending that the lease granted Exton Cubic was invalid.
Speaking to Bola Ray on Starr Chat on Starr FM, Dr. Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe stated that the needless persecution of Ibrahim Mahama must stop as he’s apolitical, but a hardworking successful young businessman.
“Her mother herself was a big businesswoman, the mother helped us a lot to build NPP financially. I’m telling you, let anyone come out to challenge this fact. I say the mother helped us a lot financially to build the NPP, and I know what I’m talking about. NPP people are still benefiting from Ibrahim Mahama, they should leave that boy alone to do his business. He’s not a politician and has no interest in politics.
“…The mother herself was not even an NPP person, she was CPP in fact she had wanted to stand for an election I don’t even know whether she stood when she was alive. But the mother believed in business, so she felt if a government comes in that can promote business, private Ghanaian individuals then she’ll support it. Ibrahim became popular after his mother had died when Kufuor was in power. The money he made initially was in Kufuor’s administration. I know what I’m talking about.
“What has NDC given him so far, what? nothing, business wise. My point is that if we have these young people coming up and they are hard working we should support them.”
