Former President Jerry John Rawlings whose silence over happenings in the current Akufo-Addo led government has been a worry to many including members of his own political party the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The former president was so critical of his own party leadership in the run-up in 2016 elections and sections attributed NDC’s massive defeat to his public criticisms of former President John Dramani Mahama and some elements in the party.
Fast forward, the revolutionist has gone cold since President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo came into office with occasional praises being showered by Rawlings on the current president.
The former military leader has revealed his reasons at a public event in an audio MyNewsGh.com obtained “at least this current man is cultured. I don’t love him but he is one of the very few cultured ones”.
Speaking to youth gathering in Accra as a guest speaker on October 5, 2018, the former president touched on his years in office indicating the very last four years of his tenure was characterized by killings of some 36 women just to send shivers down the spine of many aspiring women into leadership positions.
“The current president has given the opportunity to more women more than we have done in the past years. He (President Akufo-Addo) is a good man” he added.
He continued “I keep saying Mills didn’t do anything for this country. If he were alive we would have lost the 2012 elections with a wider margin than we did in 2016. God took him away and brought John Mahama, we had the chance to lead this nation again but we squandered it”.
The former president is anticipating to drop some “bombshell” at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi soon to lay some facts on the table.
