Singer Efya has said fighting for 100 per cent Ghanaian music airplay is not enough to put the country’s musicians on the world level.
According to her, even though it would be a move in the right direction, streaming music of preferred artistes get them on the international market as compared to airplay.
The award-winning singer said the introduction of several music streaming platforms now affords them the opportunity to gain global recognition if they get the right support.
In an interview on Starr Drive, the Afro-Pop artist stated emphatically that, “music enjoying airplay on radio and TV is not enough to get our artists on the global level.”
“If everybody in Ghana buys and streams a song when it comes out, we can go international. So when the music comes, go and stream the music.
“You don’t expect me to release a song and it will have more views from Nigeria than Ghana. We must support our own,” she added
